Understanding Water Purification

Getting To Pure Water

Getting your hands on “Purified Water” is the first step. To clean windows 100% spot free, the TDS of your water needs to be at 0. There are certain cases where you can clean just slightly over 0. It all depends on what’s in the water, though. To be safe and avoid spotty windows change your resin once your TDS reading starts to creep above 0.

TDS = Total Dissolved Solids. A simple measurement of water quality.
Environmentally Friendly

More people are becoming environmentally aware of the dangers and damage that certain detergents, soaps, and chemicals can cause. Pure water leaves no chemicals on your windows, home, or your landscaping.

Cleaner Glass

Pure water will leave windows looking flawless. The more pure water is, the more aggressive it gets. It can better serve as a natural detergent that loosens the bonds of dirt at an ionic level. This produces a film-less, smear-free surface as the glass is washed and rinsed with pure water.

Convenience

Pure water technology allows for enhanced results and minimal inconvenience to your customers. This technology can save your staff time as there is minimal equipment such as ladders to set up and operate. It maintains privacy and reduces the risk of disturbances for your customer.

Safety

Water fed poles allow Pure Window Cleaning technicians to safely clean exterior windows at heights up to 4 stories. This technology eliminates the use of ladders, lifts, and scaffolding in the field, and up against your home. Potential accidents and inconveniences are reduced exponentially because technicians are working from the ground. This technology, in most cases, eliminates the need to walk on your roof.

When most people think of a window cleaning, they imagine a man scurrying up ladders and squeegeeing off soapy water from a However, like so many other industries, window cleaning has moved on.

Pure Window Cleaning technicians use special waterfed pole systems and deionized water to clean windows safely from the ground. A soft bristled brush is used to scrub the dirt off the glass, while jets of very pure water rinse the window. The pure water not only cleans the dirt off more efficiently, it also dries to a spot-free finish as it has no impurities.

The Advantages of Using Deionized Water

Pure Window Cleaning will give you the following benefits:

  • Environmentally friendly – no detergents or any type of chemical is used, just pure water.
  • Efficient – cleaning with water-fed poles is up to 50% faster than using ladders. This minimises interruption to staff or the general public.
  • Thorough cleaning – using a brush means window frames and surrounds are also cleaned as part of the process.
  • Greater reach – areas that are very difficult to get to because of physical constraints can now be cleaned.
  • Safety – up to four floors can be reached without the need of ladders. Using a pole means the job is done with one person and you start within five minutes of coming onsite.

The Science

how does pure water clean glass without chemicals?

Tap water contains many types of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium etc. These are called Total Dissolved Solids or TDS and are generally measured in hundreds of parts per million. If you wash a window with tap water or leave your car out in the rain, the TDS elements don’t evaporate with the water but remain as residue causing “spotting”.So in other words,“water spots” are caused by the minerals left behind when “dirty” water evaporates; de-ionization removes these minerals so there is nothing left to cause spotting.

Double Action

Deionized water uses a double action to clean glass without chemicals as explained below:

  1. Pure water cleans glass a lot like soap cleans dirty hands. Soap molecules cling to the dirt on your hands to make it easier to wash away.In the same way, pure water wants to return to its “impure state” and so clings to the dirt on the glass making it significantly easier to clean.
  2. Once the dirt is washed away, all that is left is pure water with little or no TDS elements. As the water evaporates no residue is left behind leaving sparkling clear glass.
